Kulipari: An Army of Frogs is an American Flash-animated television series animated by Splash Entertainment , which debuted in September 2016 as a Netflix original series. It was produced by Clarise Cameron and Patrick Inness based on Trevor Pryce ‘s novel series An Army of Frogs . Kulipari: Heritage , a four-issue comic book miniseries was released from August to November 2016. [2] The series was renewed for a second season. [3]
Plot
Kulipari: An Army of Frogs is an action packed fantasy-adventure cartoon that takes place in the Amphibilands – a hidden village of frogs. For many years the inhabitants of the Amphibilands have lived safely, protected by a magical Veil and an elite group of poison frogs called the Kulipari. The story begins with the frogs of the Amphibilands finding their homeland threatened by an army of Scorpions teamed up with the magically powerful Spider Queen. Our hero, Darel, a young frog who has always dreamed of joining the Kulipari despite his lack of poison, now finds himself right at the front of the battle. Darel, with the help of his friends, must now overcome his anxieties and embrace his dream of becoming a kulipari warrior in order to save the whole frog population from extinction.
The series, based on a trilogy of books by retired NFL player Trevor Pryce , takes place in a fantasy version of the Australian outback and is a story of heroism and bravery as a young frog will suddenly have the chance to become the warrior he’s always dreamed Of being. [4]
Characters
Darel – The protagonist, a frog wood. Being the son of a great and late Kulipari warrior he dreams of becoming a hero like the father although different from him not having been born with the power of the poison. Amphibiolândia and to follow in a journey in search of bringing the Kuliparis back to the village. He is equipped with a dagger that belonged to his late father.
Gee – Darel’s best friend. A fat frog, gluttonous and awkward. In one part of the story he is kidnapped by the army of scorpions causing Darel to go to the land of scorpions to rescue him. After that he accompanies Darel until he meets the Kuliparis and takes them back to Amphibiolândia.
Coorah – Another childhood friend of Darel and girlfriend of Arabaroo. She has medical skills.
Quoba – One of the last Kuliparis. She has more ability to teleport with the power of her poison. At the end of the first season she ends up losing her poison by helping Darel from a rock to defeat Marmoo. She demonstrates a crush in Darel at the end of the story. The color of her poison is purple.
